Our existence depends on the ocean’s health, and we’re set to have more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050.

While there are a bunch of programs to help clean the ocean and teach consumers the importance of recycling, I liked The Ocean Foundation because its initiatives approach the root of our plastic problems for more long-term solutions.

Their initiatives include furthering research to reengineer plastic for better biodegradability, equipping coastal infrastructures with tools and policy frameworks to restore their ecosystems, and preparing the next generation of scientists for careers in wildlife conservation through field research opportunities!

Why? One of my favorite memories is floating with this crazy coral in 1000 shades of purple off the coast of Uluwatu. Times like that are rare, out-of-body reminders of how pleasant life can be when we stop to enjoy it. I hope I can bring kids into a safe world where they can enjoy moments like that, too.
